A special screening of the Pre-Code musical comedy “GOLD DIGGERS OF 1933”  will take place on Sunday, March 13 at 4:00 pm at the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association.  This classic film includes dance extravaganzas choreographed by Busby Berkley.  Pre-code movies of the early 1930’s pushed the envelope in terms of censorship.  The cast includes such stars as Ginger Rogers, Joan Blondell, Dick Powell, and Ruby Keeler.  The song “We’re in the Money” was introduced in this motion picture, designed to lift the audience’s spirit during the Great Depression.  It’s still a wonderful film experience.  Join author, theater critic, and film historian Doug Deuchler who will introduce the movie and lead a follow-up discussion.

$15 admission at the door includes movie and discussion as well as popcorn, lemonade, iced tea, and punch. Proof of vaccination will be required. Please RSVP to Diane Pingle at [email protected].
