Chicago Artists Depict Urban Life David Sokol examines how Chicago artists saw the city, its buildings, and the life of the people, whether idealized or starkly revealing the contrasts in social classes, from the late 1800’s through the recent past. Attention will be paid to the social realist artists of the 1920's – W.W. II. Mr. Sokol is a Professor Emeritus of Art History at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and founder and long-time director of the UIC Museum Studies Program.
