HENRY FOGEL PRESENTS - Duo Diorama

Winston Choi and MingHuan Xu are both active soloists in their own right, and perform together as the Duo Diorama. They are married, and live in Oak Park. Both are on the faculty of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt, Winston being the head of the piano department, MingHuan being a professor of violin and chamber music. Both are passionate performers, and they have chosen a wonderfully varied program. The Suite for Violin and Piano by the first major African-American composer William Grant Still is an evocative and very tuneful piece. Edvard Grieg's 3rd Violin Sonata is one of his most famous chamber compositions; it is his final sonata for Violin and Piano, and has Norwegian folk melodies at its roots. It was completed in1887.  Fritz Kreisler was one of the 20th century's greatest and most famous violin virtuosos, and he wrote many lovely and charming (and very difficult) pieces for himself to perform. These are three of the most popular of them.
