Murder and Mayhem in the Land Beyond O’Hare – Doug Cummings

How do you write bestselling thriller novels; and how do you create enough suspense, murder and mayhem if they're set in pastoral suburbs instead of the gritty big city?  This is a much anticipated panel discussion. Doug Cummings leads a panel of bestselling authors: Marcella Raymond, Lori Rader-Day, and Raymond Benson.  Learn their craft of creating thriller fiction that keeps you reading far into the night.

Doug M. Cummings was a longtime crime reporter for Chicago radio, before that, Kansas City television, and before that, a real-life sheriff's deputy. His fiction is both traditionally-  and self-published, and he has a new nonfiction book on staying safe in a dangerous world.  Marcella Raymond is a longtime crime and general assignment reporter and anchor for WGN-TV, and she just finished writing her first crime fiction manuscript. Raymond Benson wrote a well-received bloc of books for the James Bond 007 franchise, as well as a dazzling series called The Black Stiletto; many other books, fiction and nonfiction; teaches film noir and criticism; and plays a mean concert piano. Lori Rader-Day just published her fourth crime novel to national critical acclaim. In her spare time she's president of Mystery Writers of America's Midwest chapter, and one of the two co-creators of the Murder and Mayhem Chicago mystery conference.

Books will be available for sale after the program.
