In 2009, the Historical Society of Oak Park River Forest published Suburban Promised Land, which looks at how Oak Park was both a welcoming and inhospitable place for Black residents during the period from 1880-1980, exploring the growth in African-American population, its subsequent dwindling, and the new embrace of racial integration after 1968. Our 3 course Lunch is served at noon before the program. Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. The menu changes weekly, and is prepared by our Executive Chef Woody. To make an on-line lunch reservation no later than the Wednesday before a program, click HERE or call the office at 708-386-2729.
