Directed by Otto Preminger, this film noir recounts the story of a drug addict who gets clean while in prison but struggles after his release. To prepare, Sinatra learned to play the drums and spent time in a drug rehab center observing addicts go cold turkey. It worked; he was nominated as Best Actor! (1955)
