Violinist Sara Su Jones and pianist Dennis Moore, WFMT's Morning Program host, invite you into their Chicago living room (graced by a beautifully rebuilt 1936 Steinway), where they'll perform a variety of both lively and poignant works, from well-known pieces to rarely heard gems. The 50-minute program, including remarks on each piece, will feature works by women, including noted American composer Gwyneth Walker; Chicagoan Florence Price, the first African-American woman to have her work performed by a major symphony orchestra; and the precocious Frenchwoman Lili Boulanger, who died at 24. Sara Su and Dennis will also perform an ethereal arrangement of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile,” the gorgeous Meditation from the opera Thaïs, and Ernest Bloch's impassioned Nigun from his Baal Shem Suite, among other works.
