Chicago by the Book: 101 Publications That Shaped the City and Its Image

Recently published, Chicago by the Book includes 101 titles that illuminate themes, events, and persons crucial to the history and identity of a great American city. At this event, Chris Ware will provide insights into his graphic novel Jimmy Corrigan, one of the 101 selections. Discussing their entries will be D. Bradford Hunt (Kotlowitz's There Are No Children Here) and Steve Tomashefsky (jazz magazine Down Beat). Susan Rossen will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the challenge of selecting 101 publications from hundreds of worthy options. “The book is brimming with images of first editions and related illustrations, ephemera, and photography—and the content is a delightful miscellany.” Click HERE for the full review and HERE for the speakers’ bios.

$15 suggested donation (non-members) helps support our Enrichment Series.   Click here to make a lunch reservation.

Note: Warrior Catering, from the local Opportunity Knocks Organization, will prepare the October 21 luncheon. They will sell their fabulous pickles. No change in lunch prices.
